The father of Margaret "Peggy" Crawford, wife of Capt. Joseph Allen, was Samuel Crawford, Sr.; Peggy's mother was Jennett Mason, of Augusta County, Virginia. Samuel Crawford and Jennet Mason were married in Botetourt County, Virginia on 23 March 1771. That information on this Crawford family was provided to me by Linda Sparks Starr. According to information Linda sent me, James Crawford and Samuel Crawford, sons of William Crawford.
