Hey all....

Wanted to let everyone know that things are progressing very well with the Death Certificate project on the Breck. Co. site. The transcribers have been working hard to make sure that the transcriptions are as accurate as possible, and they've been working faster than I initially gave them credit for.

There are approximately 20 DC's for 1911 that I'm still awaiting transcriptions for, but as of last night all that I have received (over 200, if I remember correctly) are online and ready for viewing. The surname letters "A-C" have pretty much been linked up to their corresponding cemetery page, and cemetery pages have been built or updated so as to reflect the additions. The 20 or so that I'm still waiting on, they are primarily on the "B" and "C" pages, which enabled me to fly through 3 surname letters so quick. Also, Nancy Guziec and Jen Ritchie are going through and abstracting the individual names as well as corresponding cemetery names to help me ID what needs to be built or added.... helping free up more time for me to get things posted. While scattered through.... there are some that I'm doing researching to the point of finding family of the deceased and trying to match up where the deceased's family is buried and looking for a possible match if a vague burial reference is given on the DC. So as you can imagine.. we are painstakingly doing the best we can to make the DC's as accurate as we can and help you to pinpoint where family is/are.

While I'm receiving the 1912 transcriptions, I don't want to move on to those until I have everything completed with the 1911. BUT, two individuals are working on the early Breck. Co. records/ledgers and have been successful in deciphering the early handwriting in a lot of cases. When they are finished with the 1852 portion, it looks like they will have transcribed 5 pages of death listings PLUS one page of slave listings. If you could see what they are working with, you would understand why these two people have my complete and utter admiration for what they've been able to do. The image is, in many cases, VERY hard to read due to spelling or handwriting. It will, however, help a great many of you with early Breck. Co. deaths and possibly unlock some mysteries/brickwalls.

Keep watching the site. It's hard to say what all has been added/updated to the cemetery pages as there have been too many for me to keep track of and pass along to you all. Know that things are going on the site on a daily basis, so you may want to check often.

Have a great one... and Happy Hunting!!

Dana
