I spent some time this July in DC at the other end of William's life (mostly at NARA and the DAR library). I've been to Shepherdstown and the Keyes Ferry area... have to get to Buras area next.

Thanks to Pile cousins, I now have some pics of William's grave. I have found both a will and transcript (DAR library) of same. I have generated a pretty fair compilation of documentation of his war record to death in KY. If of use, it's posted as a 'story' to my Ancestry.com site ("William Pile III Documentation"). If interested and you can't otherwise get to it, send me a note (~2.5 mb PDF doc).
