Shooting at Hopkinsville

Officers WEST and DAVIS of Hopkinsville's police force, exchanged pistol shot Wednesday morning, WEST was killed almost instantly and DAVIS, it is reported, cannot recover. DAVIS had been recently discharged from the force chiefly upon evidence given by WEST, and it was this that brought about the altercation and deadly use of firearms. WEST was forty-eight years old and leaves a wife and two children. DAVIS was forty years of age and has a large family. (Source: Earlington Bee, Thur., Sept. 7, 1893)
