Mangled and Killed
Nat McKEE, one of the wealthiest and most influential farmers of Christian county, was literally blown in pieces at 10 o'clock Wednesday by a boiler explosion. A portable engine used for crushing stock was being repaired while steam was up. McKee and several negroes were standing near, when with a terrific report the boiler blew into fragments. McKEE was disemboweled and his heart and lungs torn from his body and scattered about the scene of the disaster. Jim CRUTCHFIELD, a negro man, was terribly burned and a little negro was nearly drowned. McKee leaves a wife and one child. (Source: Earlington Bee, Thur., Sept. 21, 1893)
