Stella Tyler Haddix, Age 65, of Trotwood, OH passed away unexpectedly December 2, 2008. Born February 5, 1943 in Hopkinsville, KY and raised in Elkton, KY. She was the daughter of the late William Steelarm Tyler and Mary Tyler Mason. Stella retired from the Reynolds and Reynolds Company after 37 years of service and currently worked at Central State University Institute of Urban Education since 2005. In her last months, she facilitated as the Community Liaison for the W.E.B. Dubois Talented Tenth Program. She was dedicated to helping "at-risk-youth" in the state. Her last act was to secure funds to continue these programs. She was a faithful member of McKinley United Methodist Church, a member of the Usher Board, Vice President of the United Methodist Women and served on the scholarship committee. Affiliations include Iota Phi Lamda Business Sorority; Jack and Jills of America, Inc; Ohio Valley Smart Set; Ruby Ambassadors of the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company; Unity Chapt!
er Order of OEA; Daughters of Isis #95; and Democratic Womens League of Trotwood. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 40 years, Charles A. Haddix, Sr.; three children: 2 sons, Rev. Charles A. Haddix, Jr. & Andre M. Wheeler, both of Trotwood, OH; daughter, Tiffany Tyler Haddix, of Houston, TX; special nephews, Stephen Taylor & Deontay Twitty; special sister, Geraldine Harris, of Trotwood, OH; devoted friends, Barbara Embry, Agnes George & Dr. Kaye Jeter; a host of special nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 12 noon December 6, 2008 at McKinley United Methodist Church, 196 Hawthorn Street. Rev. Diane Turner-Sharazz, Pastor; Rev. Charles A. Haddix, Jr. Eulogist. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Visitation 9 am at the church until the time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
