RESPONSE:
I'm not related and really don't know about his age or anything else about
your Adison SMITH. However, I do know that sometimes Adison can be Ad or
Attison or he could have another given name you are not even considering.
Have you checked out this listing in the 1870 Clay Co? Just a
"possibility".

Dwelling 13, Precinct #8 - from annotated 1870 Clay sold by James WELCH
SMITH, Baalam, 45
. . Lizie, 39 (Balam married Eliza SWAFFORD on 3-23-1851 in clay Co.)
. . William, 17, work on farm
. . Thomas, 17, work on farm
. . Harrison, 15, work on farm
. . Louiza, 13, at home
. . Creasy, 11, at home
. . Attison, 9 * * *
. . Jane, 7
. . John, 5
. . Amelia, 3
. . Elizabeth, 1

I see on the 1880, Attison has become Alison:
Dwelling 264-264
SMITH, Balaam, 53, KY
. . Eliza, 49, wife
. . Alison, 19, son * * (same as Attison from the 1870)
. . Mary Jane, 17, dau
. . John, 14, son
. . John, 14, son
. . Amelia, 13, dau
. . Elizabeth, 11, dau
. . Beverly, 8, son
. . Finley, 5
SAILOR, Hettie, 23, divorced
. . Elizabeth, 5, dau
. . James F., 1, son,

Assuming that he married as follows in 1878:
SMITH, Adison to LEWIS, Polly on 6 March 1878, File 19

then either she died or they divorced at some point, perhaps prior to 1880
where he could be back in the home of his parents. Then in 1882 as
follows, he remarries:

SMITH, Addison to JACKSON, Louisa on 28 Sept 1882, File 21

>Hi Cosetta, I sort of knew what a poor house or farm might be- when I was
a
little girl, I'd ask daddy if we could buy something for me ... And he'd
say
sure ! Just as soon as your rich Uncle gets out of the poor house! LOL!
Aside from that, I have NEVER found Adison Smith on ANY U.S. census! Yet he
fathered children and married Polly Jane Lewis. I found their marriage
lisence dated 1878, Clay County KY.So he must have existed?
And the "POOR HOUSE" is my last trick up my sleeve!
Thanks, Katie in Snowy OH.
