Sorry, I was only only able to copy two articles
this week.
Week of Friday, March 6, 1925
Mr. and Mrs.E. C. Alllgood are the proud parents
of a fine eight pound boy which arrived Feb 19.
Mother and baby are doing nicely. Mrs. Allgood is
the daughter of Mr. W.B. Burton, former
superintendent of the Fordson Coal Co. Banner Fork
No.2. Mr. Burton sure is stepping high, as this
is his first grandson.
Seven lads sent to Greendale
Matt Blanton and Jerome Hopkins, Estill Johnson of
Wallins Creek , and Charles King, Melvin and
Lawrence Creech and Lige Howard , were sent to the
state reformatory at Greendale Tuesday on
different charges. They were all young and
ranging from age of 12-17.
Matt Blanton and Jerome Hopkins of Wallins were
sent on charges of stealing an auto some few weeks
ago. They admitted their charges. Estill Johnson,
also of Wallins was sent to Greendale for breaking
in a store near that place.
Howard and the two Creech boys were caught Sunday
in the act of stealing articles from the stores
of N. J. Alexander on South Main St. near the
county bridge. They had taken several articles of
clothing and other small trinkets when they were
apprehended by Deputy Sheriff Robert Crabtree.
Attention, Sisters of John Estes
A telegram has been received by Mayor F.D. Perkins
searching for the sisters of one John ESTES who
was killed in a train accident in Dayton Ohio,
Wednesday. The telegram is as follows:
March 11, 1925 Dayton Ohio
Man thought to be John Estes killed near here by
train-- said to have two married sisters-- advise
me.
Yours
Secretary American Legion
Dayton, Ohio
The telegram was rushed to the New Harlan Theatre
and to the Cumberland Theatre Wednesday night
after being received and was read, but the
parties wanted were not in either audience. If
you know of them, it will be a very charitable
thing to notify them of the telegram.
