Jo,
I am researching Phippses in Bell county and have not connected them w/ the
Knox co. group, but it is possible that they are related. My "mystery"
Phipps is Zarr Phipps who came from VA. He m. Didaima Baker, daughter of
Andrew & Jane Gillis Baker of Lee co. VA. They had at least two children,
Andrew & Henry. Andrew might have been killed in the Civil War, and Henry
married his brother's widow, Lucinda Evans, after the war. They lived at
Clear Creek in Bell co. Zarr Phipps either died or left town at a fairly
young age because Didaima Baker Phipps m. 2- Elisha Hendrickson. It seems
that half of Bell co. is descended from the Hendrickson clan!
The only other Phipps I am familiar w/ in Bell co. during that time period
is Deborah Phipps who m. a Bingham. I would appreciate any help on Zarr
Phipps and any information on possible connections to the fairly well-known
Phippses in Knox co.
Connie
