JANUARY 4, 1878

A fifteen inch snow fell last night.

Born to the Wife of F. M. Hamilton a daughter.

March 1878

Mud waist deep and still rising.

Born to the wife of John Southerland near the Camp Ground, Laurel county.
Ky., May 17 twins each weighing nine pounds.

Died in London, Ky. July 14, 1878. Miss Letitia A. McKee aged 33 years.

We are informed that Mr. S. B.. Dishman and Miss Annie Hinkle were married
in Barbourbille last evening.

Mr. James Chesnut a colored man of this county, died last Friday and was
buried Saturday.

The Scarlet fever is making an inroad into our County. Three of Mr. A. L.
Reids children are confined with it, one of them being very low. This is a
contagious disease and is very dangerous, especially among children and no
effort should be spared to prevent its farther growth.

The employes of this office killed at one time one day last week, ten
copperhead snakes in the street near the office. All found under the same
old log. Which had been lying there for several years, wasn't a good day
for snakes.

Mr. W. H. Wilson of Whitley county and formerly of this county died at his
residence in Whitley last Monday, and was brought to this county and buried
in the graveyard at Slate Hill about four miles from London.

Married-At the residence of the brides father by the Rev. Hiram Johnson,
Mr. Harve Lucas to Miss Sarah Hibbard, both of this county.

Mr. Jerry Lemmon's informs us that the other day while Mr. Ketchen Little
was in the field he plowed up out of one bed thirty-six copperhead snakes
from ten inches to two feet in length. Four and one half miles northwest of
London.

Little Lucy Williams, daughter of Mr. J. T. Williams died at his residence
in this place last Friday, and was buried on Saturday.

Born to the wife of W. E. Smith of London on the night of the 24th Oct. a
son.

William Templin died at the residence of his father in the county on
yesterday morning.

Judge W. L. Brown and lady, Nee Miss Grace Hammett returned yesterday from
a bridal tour to the cities.

Died on the 14th inst. Mr. Joseph McCowan of this county aged about 33
years. He was buried on the 14th inst in the Rough Creek graveyard.
