The surviving children of Mr. Hansford Faris, deceased, of this county, held
a reunion at the residence of Judge Weaver's this city, last Sunday, the
first one for thirteen years. They were Mrs. J. I. Weaver, of this place,
Mr. James H. Faris, of Kingston, Mr. S. J. Faris, of Winchester and Mr.
Humphrey Faris, of Pineville. It was indeed a joyful occasion for them all.

MARRIED-At 11 o'clock yesterday morning in the parlors of the Jackson Hotel,
by Rev. F. J. McIntire, Mr. A. B. Hix of Halsey, Whitley county, to Miss
Alice Jones, the beautiful daughter of Mr. John Jones, proprietor of the
Jackson Hotel. They left on the 3:15 train yesterday afternoon for their new
home. May peace, prosperity and happiness ever light their pathway through
life, and when they have sipped the cup of life low; may the dregs thereof be
a sweet morsel of their souls, is the wish of the Echo.

OAKLEY

We have had a glorious Christmas.

Samuel Templin, of this place, an old soldier, served a portion of his
children, grand children, and great grand children and neighbors to the
number of 52 with a fine turkey, ham, cakes, jelly and other good things and
all had plenty to eat and went off happy. Mr Templin says that he is none
the worse off as their company more that paid for his outlay.

Henry Carson, a thirteen year old boy, was killed at Irvin, Ky., Monday by a
shot which came from a party of men who were drinking and engaged in
permiscuous shooting.

Thomas Kidd, last Monday shot and probably fatally wounded Mrs. J. C. Bryant
at the home of the latter near Williamsburg. Kidd claimed it was an
accident, the woman claimed it was intentional.
