February 8, 1901
Miss Laura Sparks, of this place, went home Sunday morning and was absent
until Monday.
Miss Malinda Allen, of Piney Woods, moved down below Livingston last week and
will keep boarding house for Mr. James Sparks.
Miss Mary Faris is going home next Sunday to see her old friends in the Piney
Woods.
Mr. Ed Parker, who has been absent for the past three or four months, is back
in London, but will return East when court is over.
John Ponder was in town Sunday afternoon to see his girl, but failed.
G. P. Johnson has done away with his new cook and has his old one back.
LOCAL ITEMS
The smiling countenance of Mr L. Morgan can again be seen upon our streets.
Robert W. Dyche, of Jackson county, was in town on a pleasure and business
trip Sunday and Monday.
DIED-At the residence of Mr. Brit Davis last Monday morning, of consumption,
Miss Susie Turner, of color. Her remains were buried Tuesday on the Cemetery
Hill, overlooking the town from the west.
Mr. Arthur Roucher, after spending a couple of weeks visiting friends in
London, left on his return home to Erin, Tenn., a few days ago. We are
always glad to see Mr. Roucher come and hate to see him leave.
Mr. M. V. B. Ryan, formerly of this place, but who has been making his home
in Illinois for several years, writes the editor that he will be in London in
a few days and will make his future home here.
