DIED-At the home of her father, at East Bernstadt, Ky., February 3, 1901,
Mary Smith, the nine year old daughter of M. F. and Roxy Smith. she was
taken sick at School on Thursday evening and died the following Sunday
evening at 9 o'clock. And though young in years, her friends were many; her
sweet loving smiles and kind disposition won every heart. before taken sick
she expressed her wish "never to live to be old and when she died to take
her to Georgia, where lived many relatives and friends, to bury her." A wish
which her beloved grief stricken parents complied with, and started on
Tuesday morning on that sad journey. She was a lovely and devoted child at
home; each morning before she left home for school she never forgot to kiss
her mother good bye; and was always ready and willing to do what her parents
bade her do.

verdict of acquittal.

The case of the Commonwealth against Charles and Robert Marsee, charged with
the murder of Richard Stapleton, was continued till next term of the court.

In the case of Jack Watkins, for the killing of Sam Gaines, the defendant
being on bond failed to appear on account of sickness, the case was passed

cutting Douglas Sams, was granted a new trial on account of a defect in the
indictment, and the case referred to the grand jury.

The jury in the case of the Commonwealth against Henry Wilhoit, for the
killing of Louis Vaughn, is still out and the trial will probably result in
a hung jury.
