Here's an interesting note from the McCreary County, KY Court Order Book 2 p. 144 dated 4 Sep 1920:

"It appearing to the satisfaction of the court that a condition of lawlessness exists in McCreary County and that it is necessary that [a] patrolman be appointed to assist the peace officers of McCreary County in enforcing the law and especially in stopping the illegal traffic of intoxicating liquor, it is hereby ordered that Henry Holloway be and he is hereby appointed a patrolman for McCreary Co."

The court clerk noted that the appointment was for a period of 30 days for which Holloway was to be paid $1 per day. Henry Holloway was also a magistrate in McCreary Co. If anyone is descended from him, I could send you lots of info regarding his public service early in the county. I am not related to him, I just have the information.
