I wanted to share some information which I found which might help someone trying to trace family members who were born in SE Kentucky and who seem to have disappeared or who were adopted. In researching the McCreary Court Order Book 1, which is posted on Margy Miles's McCreary Co. Page, children who were orphans or whose parents could not afford to support them for various reasons were sent to a home in Louisville to be placed for adoption. This home is identified in the records for Court Order Book 1 which are posted on Margy's page.

I am now working on Court Order book 2 and have found that the court was ordering children sent to the Apostalic Faith Home in Nashville, Davidson Co., TN to be taken care of and adopted out. I have no idea what records are available, if any, for these two places, but it may be of help to know that some of these children ended up in Nashville. Beverley
