Please look at the information below. If you know anything about the 7
wives or children of David Edward Nelson MEADOWS (my great-grandfather),
please let me know. He got around--that's for sure, and married women
using the name "David" sometimes and "Nelson" at other times. I wouldn't
be surprised to find more wives out there whom he married under the name
of "Edward". If you know who Anna NEAL's or Abigail THOMAS' parents
were, please reply, also. I am also looking for Rufus MEADOWS, born in
the 1880s in Scott or Anderson County, TN.
****************************************************************
One of the 10 children of Thomas MEADOWS and Keziah MOBERLY (daughter of
Edward MOBERLY) was Edward Moberly MEADOWS, born in North Carolina. He
married Abigail THOMAS on April 19, 1810 in Knox County, KY. Edward died
circa 1839 in Whitley County. One of Edward's and Abigail's sons was
Thomas Edward MEADOWS, born circa 1824. Thomas Edward married (1) Anna
NEAL (possibly O'NEAL in earlier generations), July 26, 1854 in Campbell
County, TN--Anna died in just a few years. Their son, David Edward
Nelson MEADOWS, born 1856, died January 18, 1921 in McCreary County, KY,
married (1) Melinda Jane MOSES, July 16, 1874 in Kentucky (2) Elizabeth
PHILLIPS, December 19, 1876 in Anderson County, TN (3) Nancy STRUNK,
February 1, 1880 in Scott COUNTY, TN (4) Sally Ann PATTERSON (my line;
daughter of Clark PATTERSON [son of Robert PATTERSON and Elizabeth
WINFREY] and Jane MARLOW [daughter of Thomas MARLOW and Elizabeth
WARD]), December 24, 1881 in Anderson County, TN (5) Nancy E. TAYLOR,
February 2, 1896 in Scott County, TN (6) Amanda WEST, December 28, 1897
in Anderson County, TN (7) Hester HUCKABY (sister to Robert HUCKABY),
Anderson County, TN. Thomas Edward MEADOWS married a second time--after
Anna NEAL died. His second wife was Gemima JOHNSON.
