Hi Everyone,
As I get time, I will start posting obits from The West Union Association of
Baptist Churches. I have a lot of their minute books, as my church belongs
to that association. This association has churches that are in KY & TN. I
hope that these will be of some help to someone. The earlier obits doesn't
contain that much info. Whatever I post will be ALL I have on it.
The first obits are below.
Bobbie
Miller, Rachel-Born June 5, 1886, died January 2, 1947, age 61 years, 6
months and 28 days. She joined the Upper Marsh Creek Church at an early age
and transferred her membership to the Silerville Church, where she remained
a faithful member until death. She leaves 5 children and a host of
relatives and friends to mourn her absence. Her life was an inspiration to
all to follow her to Glory.
Watters, Elaney-Age 71 years was received into the Beech Grove church by
baptism in 1923. She departed this life April 21, 1949. She leaves a
husband, two brothers and two sisters and a host of friends to mourn her
absence. We feel our loss is her gain in glory.
Green, John Everett-Born March 6, 1884, deceased January 30, 1949, age 65
years, 10 months and 24 days. He joined the Baptist Church at Stearns at an
early age. He was ordained a deacon there and served for several years. He
transferred his membership to the East Apple Tree Baptist Church as a
charter member, July 20, 1946. Where he remained a faithful Christian until
death. He leaves his wife, 4 daughters, 1 son and a host of relatives and
friends to mourn his absence. His life was an inspiration to all to follow
him to Glory.
Cooper, Mr. Eli-Born Feb. 10, 1870, departed this life January 5, 1949. He
joined the Baptist Church at Coal Hill about thirty-five years ago. He was
joined in holy matrimony to Sancinda Thompson about fifty-seven years ago
and to this union were born four sons and three daughters, two preceded him
in death. Walter Cooper and Maud Day. His wife preceded him in death four
years, eleven months, 22 days. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ella
Hicks, Revelo, Ky., and Mrs. Dilly Stephens, Pine Knot, Ky., three sons,
Lindsay Cooper and Oda Cooper, Pine Knot, Ky., and Luther Cooper, Revelo,
Ky., one sister, Mrs. Jane King, Pine Knot, Ky., twenty-three grandchildren
and eleven great grandchildren. He came by recommendation by Everett
Stephens to the East Apple Tree Church on March 17, 1947, where he remained
a faithful Christian until death. We feel our loss is his eternal gain in
glory.
Wood, Ulessess Sydney-Born August 30, 1868, died May 17, 1949. He was 80
years and 8 months, 18 days old. He leaves 6 sons and their wives, 31
grandchildren and one great grandchild to mourn his passing, he was a member
of Pine Knot Baptist Church, he joined the church at an early age and was a
faithful Christian until his death, he was well know in this county and well
liked by all who knew him. He was a devoted father and husband, his wife
Verna Wood preceding him in death about 6 months, he has joined her in
heaven where they will part no more.
