Lawson, Blance Douglas-Born February 28, 1898, died July 18, 1948, age 50
years, 4 months and 20 days. She joined the New Salem Church about 33 years
ago and was a faithful member until death. She leaves a husband, mother, 1
daughter, 3 sons, 4 brothers, 4 sisters and a host of friends to mourn her
absence. Before passing, she said, "I'm ready to go," and we feel that she
is peacefully resting with God in Glory.
Lay, Calvin Ozias-Born December 2, 1869, died June 14, 1947, age 77 years, 5
months and 16 days. He joined the New Salem Church in 1894 and was faithful
until death. He was united in marriage to Lydia Braden in 1895, to this
union six children was born, one son, Elmer preceded him in death.
Barnes, Cordelia Cross-Born July 6, 1897, died December 7, 1947, age 50
years, 6 months and 1 day. She joined the Paint Rock Baptist Church at the
age of 17 years and was faithful until death. She was the daughter of Rev.
and Mrs. W. A. Cross. She leaves a husband, 4 daughters and 4 sons and a
host of other relatives and friends to mourn her absence.
Cross, Rev. William Anderson-Born September 30, 1863 died October 18, 1947,
age 84 years 17 days. He joined the Straight Fork Baptist Church at an
early age and remained faithful until death. He was a minister of the
Gospel for more than 62 years always striving to lead lost souls to Christ.
He leaves his wife, 4 sons and 4 daughters and a host of other relatives and
friends to mourn his absence.
Goodman, Flerdie-Age about 62 years, died May 23, 1948. On May 5, 1945, she
rededicated her life to God and remained faithful until death. Paint Rock
Church.
Dobbs, Effie Laxton-Age about 50 years died February 11, 1948. She
rededicated her life to God on January 2, 1926, and remained faithful until
death. Paint Rock Church.
Kidd, Emily Marcum-Born March 24, 1884, died Dec. 7, 1947, age 65 years, 8
months and 13 days. She joined the Pine Creek Church in early life and was
a faithful member until death. She leaves a husband, 2 sons, 2 daughters, 3
sisters and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her absence. Our loss
is her eternal gain.
Acres, Ethel-Born September 24, 1919, died February 14, 1948. She joined
the Pine Hill Church at an early age and lived a devoted Christian life
until death. She leaves a father, mother, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a host
of relatives and friends to mourn her absence. We feel that our loss is her
eternal gain in glory.
Terry, Leona Wilhite-Born June 2, 1891, died May 21, 1948, age 56 years, 11
months and 18 days. She joined the Pine Hill Church in 1928 and remained
faithful until death. She leaves
4 sons, 4 daughters, 3 sisters, and a host of friends and relatives to mourn
her absence. We feel that our loss is her eternal gain in Glory.
Keeton, Ronald-Born March 8, 1927, died August 31, 1948, while serving in
the Army Air Corps at Fort Benning, Georgia. He joined the Tunnel Hill
Church in July, 1940. He leaves his mother, 5 sisters, 1 brother and a host
of friends and relatives to mourn his absence. We feel our loss is his
eternal gain Glory.
Douglas, Homer-Born October 8, 1903, died December 9, 1947, age 44 years,
two months, one day. He joined the Jellico Creek Church, July 2, 1931 and
moved his membership to Zion Church in July 13, 1935, where he remained a
faithful member until death. He leaves his father, 3 brothers, 2 sisters
and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his absence. We feel our loss
is his eternal gain in Glory.
