Sexton, Herbert H.-Was born October 13, 1928, and departed this life on
December 25, 1948. He joined the Pentecost Baptist Church May 15, 1938. He
joined the church at an early age, and we feel that he did not stray too far
from the fold. Before his death he left the message that he was going to
rest, which is a great comfort to our souls. He leaves to mourn his
passing, his father and mother, three sisters and five brothers, and a host
of relatives and friends. He was loved by all who knew him, and we believe
our loss is his great gain.

Phillips, Rev. W. R.-Was born May 2, 1895, and departed this life May 12,
1949, he was one of the charter members of the Pentecost Baptist Church,
which was organized Sept. 7, 1929, he was ordained to the ministry of the
Gospel October 6, 1934, he was always pleading with the lost souls, of
pointing them to Christ, he also lived a good Christian life before us all,
and we are looking forward to meeting him in Glory. He married Miss
Josephine Strunk, Nov. 10, 1911, to this union was born 11 children, of
which three preceded him in death, he leaves to mourn his passing a loving
wife, two daughters, and six sons, a number of grandchildren, and a great
host of friends and relatives. His work on earth is done, and we feel that
he heard that great call from God, Come unto me and I will give you rest.

Gibson, Lewis-Born Sept. 9, 1882, deceased October 11, 1948, at the age of
65 years, 1 month and 7 days. He joined the Stanfill Church in 1927, and he
lived a faithful member until his death. He leaves a wife and six children,
twelve grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters, and a host of relatives
and friends to mourn his loss. We feel our loss is his eternal gain in
glory.

Woods, Verna Ryan-Born April 18th, 1874, died Nov. 26, 1948, joined the
Baptist Church at an early age and remained faithful until the end. She
leaves her husband and six sons, 4 brothers and one sister and a host of
friends to mourn her absence. We know our loss is her eternal gain.

Sewell, James A.-Born Dec. 23rd, 1864, died August 4th, 1949, age 84 years,
7 months, 11 days, joined the Cedar Grove Church at an early age in 1927, he
joined the White Pine Church and was faithful until death. He was a deacon
of the White Pine Church. He leaves one son, one daughter, 10
grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn his
absence. We feel our loss is his eternal gain in glory.

Blevins, Clinton-Born March 23, 1906, Wayne County, Kentucky, passed away
December 30, 1948 at the age of 42 years, 7 months. He professed faith in
Christ in August 1933 and joined the White Pine Baptist Church of Christ at
White Pine and was in fellowship until death. He leaves a wife and one
daughter, father, and mother and four brothers, four sisters and many
relatives and a host of friends, all with hope of a happy meeting above.

Douglas, J.S.-Was born August 1, 1874, deceased this life March 11, 1949, at
the age of 74 years, 7 months and 10 days. He joined the old Zion Baptist
Church more than 49 years ago and was a faithful member also deacon of the
church for a number of years until death. He was survived by 4 sisters,
Rachel Broyles of Foremile, Ky., Hannah Roe of Pine Knot, Ky.., Sarah Baines
of Newcomb, Tenn., Malinda Nochels, Williamsburg, Ky., two brothers Bill and
Russell Douglas of Elk Valley, Tenn., two daughters, Pearlie Cross and Onie
Trammel both of Winfield, Tenn., three sons, Ancil Douglas, LaFollette,
Tenn.; Kelly Douglas, Winfield, Tenn., Ovis Douglas, Lovellen Ky.; 19
grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and
friends. We feel that our loss is God's eternal gain.


Keeton, Ovea-Born May 8, 1919, deceased February 14, 1949. He joined the
Tunnel Hill Church April 23, 1933, was a member of this church until death.
He leaves to mourn his absence a wife, 1 son, 1 daughter, father and mother,
3 sisters, 3 brothers. We feel our loss is his eternal gain in glory.

Duncan, Lt. Vernon W.-Son of Walter and Orlenda Duncan was born June 22,
1919. Vernon grew up in the Pleasant Grove Community, he professed a hope
in Christ and joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in the year of 1936.
In June 1940 Vernon volunteered in the service of his country, he was soon
assigned to the Air Forces. While in training in Louisiana he met and was
married to Norma Gayle Mayo, June 11, 1944, and to this union was born a
baby girl, Donna Gayle Duncan March 23, 1945. In August 1949, the records
of the War Department revealed that Lt. Duncan's plane was shot down over
Honshu, Japan, March 25, 1945 and Vernon with all the crew perished in the
crash. He leaves to grieve for him his wife, 1 little girl, father and
mother, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and a host of friends and relatives. We feel
that our great loss is his eternal gain in glory.
