Slaven, Berry-Was born in McCreary County, Ky., on July 27, 1884, departed
this life January 11, 1956, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 14 days.
He was married to Dillie Slaven in 1903, and to this union were born 10
children, his wife and one son having preceded him in death. Surviving him
are: 4 sons, Isaac, Andy, Clarence, and Sidney Slaven all of Oneida; 5
daughters, Mrs. Bill Freeman, Revelo, Ky., Mrs. Elvin Chambers, Miss Marie
Slaven, Mrs. Oz Phillips of Oneida, Mrs. Erin Freeman of Cincinnati, Ohio; 2
brothers, Rev. Bill Slaven, Cooperative, Ky., Edd Slaven, Oneida; 1 sisters,
Mrs. Sallie Hall, Oneida; 13 grandchildren, and one great grandchild, and a
host of other relatives and friends. He professed faith in Christ and
joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Oneida, June 16, 1950, where he
remained a member until death. We feel our loss is his eternal gain.

Byrd, Elma Rector-Born June 12, 1901, deceased February 23, 1956. She was a
member of the White Rock Baptist. She leaves a husband, one son and one
daughter and other relatives and friends who hope to meet her where there is
no more pain and said farewells.

Byrd, Sister Maude-In memory of Sister Maude Byrd, born December 2, 1885,
passed away June 15, 1956, age 73 years. She married Henry Byrd and to this
union 8 children were born, one of whom proceeded her in death. She leaves
5 girls and 2 boys and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren and
a host of friends and relatives to mourn her absence. She was a member of
the Annadel Baptist Church. We feel our loss is Heaven's gain.

Cotton, Pearl O'Neal-Was born to Arlenda and John F. O'Neal November 3,
1909, deceased this life April 18, 1956. She was married to Oscar Cotton in
May 1926. To this union were born five children, three girls, Orangie M.
Payne, Lillie M. Rose and Lena Ruth Cotton; two boys, James and Russell
Cotton, all of Oneida. She also has seven grandchildren. Sister Cotton
joined the Bethalonia Baptist Church July 22, 1932 and lived a faithful
Christian life and filled her place at church as long as her health
permitted.
She is sadly missed but not forgotten by her many friends and relatives.
But one consolation, we will meet again where sickness nor death never comes
no more and we will live together with God and his Angels rejoicing
evermore. Funeral services were held in her home church with Rev. General
C. Phillips and Rev. James E. Marcum officiating. West Funeral Home in
Charge. Her body rests in the Thomas Cemetery on the hill above the home
where she spent many happy hours in her life. She was a devoted wife,
mother and Christian and was loved by all who knew her. We feel our loss is
her eternal gain in glory.

Epperson, Dave-Born March 11, 1878, deceased this life February 11, 1956,
age 78 years and 11 months. He was married to Ellan Thresser in 1907. He
joined the Black Creek Church, second Saturday in September 1919. Left to
mourn his departure, companions, friends, and relatives. We feel our loss
is his eternal gain in Heaven.

Silcox, Lillie E. Terry-Born April 24, 1883. Died February 15, 1956. She
leaves 4 boys, 1 girl and her husband, F. N. Silcox to mourn her passing.
She also leaves 3 brothers and 1 sister, Jim Terry and Sigal Terry of
Oneida, Elmer Terry of Florida, and Almea Hunley of Washington. She
professed a hope in Christ at an early age. She lived a devoted Christian
life until death called her. She leaves a host of friends and loved ones to
mourn her passing. We feel our loss is her eternal gain in glory.

Harness, Pheby Arenia-Joined the Bull Creek Baptist Church and was baptized
September 18, 1897 and died 1955. She was a faithful member until death.
She left to mourn her absence, two daughters, Ethel Henry of Robbins, Lizzy
Rigons of Robbins, one son, Mart York of Fork Mountain, and a host of
friends. We feel our loss is her eternal gain in glory where there will be
no more dying.
