Subject: [McC] PLEASE READ: Misunderstanding About Sources
Date: Sat, 14 Oct 2000 07:40:01 -0500

Hello McCreary Researchers;
Someone apparently gave information to the folks at the McCreary County
Museum in Stearns that contained Social Security records, or references to
Social Security records, and told the museum that they copied that
information from the McCreary County website. Those same people also stated
that I obtained that information FROM the museum without giving them credit.

This is false. I do not publish Social Security records to the website.
Anyone who is familiar with my websites or who knows me, will have noticed
the banner that is always there saying that I support others' rights to
privacy. I stand behind this 100 percent. I would NEVER publish Social
Security records to the Internet. I also do NOT publish data on the
websites that came from the museum or any other place without proper credit
or without quoting my sources as they were given to me.

If the people who told this to the museum are on this list, I would like to
ask you to be careful to check your references when talking to others. You
may have gotten the information from *somewhere* on the Internet but you
did not get it from the McCreary County website.

[Note: The information about this misunderstanding came to me accidentally
and I have called the folks at the musum in an effort to clear it up. They
did not complain to me about it - just so you know.]

Thank you,
Margy
