Reynolds, Colonel-Born September 9, 1893, died February 27, 1953, age 59
years 7 months 18 days. He professed a hope in Christ and was baptized into
the Penticostal Baptist Church, October 6, 1933. He lived and worked in
that church a short time and moved his letter to the Pine Hill Baptist
Church and remained a faithful member until God saw fit to call him from
this world of sickness sorrow and pain to a home of peace, joy and rest. He
is greatly [missed] by his loving companions, 3 sons, 13 grandchildren, one
brother, 4 sisters and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
We know our loss is heavens gain, may we all prepare to meet him where
parting comes no more.
Litton, C.C.-The son of the late George and Emily Litton was born January
18, 1887, departed this life October 22, 1953. Age 65 years, 9 months and 4
days. He was married to Ella Kidd April 8, 1908 and to this union was born
eleven children. One son and two daughters preceded him in death. He
professed a hope in Christ about forty years ago and united with the White
Pine Baptist Church and later moved his membership to the Opossum Rock
Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member until death. Besides his
wife he is survived by Six daughters and two sons. Mrs. Earl Bowden,
Glendale, Oregon; Mrs. Edith Blevins, Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Lee
Sharfe, Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. Woodrow Sharfe, Cincinnati, Ohio; Mrs.
Claude Holt and Mrs. Darius Smith both of Oneida; Loyd K. Litton, Areada,
California; George Litton, Norwood, Ohio; Six sisters, Mrs. Alfred Blevins,
East Jamestown, Tenn.; Mrs. Manda Marcum, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mrs.
Ethel Troxel, Glendale, Oregon; Mrs. Elizabeth Shaheski, Cincinnati, Ohio;
Mrs. Mitchel Burke and Mrs. John S. Smith of Oneida. One brother: John
Litton, Eubanks, Ky. 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and a great
host of other relatives and friends. He was a devoted husband and father
and was loved and admired by all who knew him. We feel our loss is his
eternal gain in Glory.
Keeton, Partelia Terry-Was born May 29, 1882 at Pine Creek, in Scott County,
Tennessee. She departed this life, December 9, 1952, at the age of 70
years, 6 months and 11 days. She professed a Hope in Christ and joined the
Black Creek Baptist Church. She was the daughter of Jasper and Mary Jane
Terry and after the passing of her father, she stayed on with her mother
until her death in 1928. She had one brother and four sisters who
outstripped her in this life. She married H. C. Keeton in October 1928 and
became a mother to four lonely children, and was never too busy too hear and
talk to children, and during World War II when two of her step-son's were
overseas, she wrote many encouraging letter to them. And after much
suffering due to ill health and sorrow, she went on to be with Jesus and a
Brighter tomorrow. She left behind to mourn her passing her husband, H. C.
Keeton; 4 step-children, Edison and Avon of Richmond, Ind., Beaulah Hulse of
Center Texas, Cornelius of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 1 brother of Washington
State, George Terry and a host of relatives and friends. Bible reading was
from Revelations 7:13-17.. Her body was laid to rest, in the Black Creek
Cross Roads Cemetery. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord,
that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not
prevent them which are asleep.
Boese, Sister Ellen Hull-Born Mary 13, 1923, deceased this life December 22,
1952. She was married to Frank Boese. To this union were born 2 daughters,
Susan Ann and Margaret Ellen. She leaves to mourn her absence, her husband
and children, her mother, Mrs. Josie Snelling of Arizona, 1 sister, Mrs.
Goldman Norman of Texas; 5 brothers, Houston of Dayton, Ohio, Carson of
Armathwaite, Arthur of Shirley, Elbert of Georgia and Johnnie of Alabama.
There are many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her. She was
saved and joined the Fellowship Baptist Church at an early age. Later she
moved her membership to the Shirley Church, where she remained a faithful
member until death.
O'Neal, Mrs. Arlena-Departed this life March 24, 1953, at the age 83. She
leaves to mourn her passing 3 daughters and 4 sons. A group of
grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. We feel our loss is her
eternal gain in Glory. Shirley Baptist Church.
Lay, George W.-Age 89 years, 3 months and 21 days, departed this life
November 21, 1952. He had been a member of the Elk Fork Church for 60
years. He was a faithful member as long as he was able to attend, and
always expressing his love for the church. His passing we feel will be a
loss here, but his eternal gain in Glory. He is survived by one brother,
Frank Lay of Elk Valley; one son D. I. Lay of Elk Valley; two daughters,
Mrs. J. B. Murray of Elk Valley and Mrs. J. J. Butler of Knoxville, 14
grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
His request was no flowers.
