Day, Mertie-Was born August 14th, 1912, deceased this life April 26th, 1957.
She was 44 years, 8 months and 12 days old. She professed a hope in Christ
and joined the Missionary Baptist Church of Bull Creek and was baptized
about 23 years ago and remained in that church until last fall. She drew
her letter and came to the United Baptist Church of Bull Creek and remained
there until death. She lived a faithful Christian life. She leaves a
Christian husband, Dyer Day and 3 little girls, Juanita, Geneva and Genetta
and a son Albert Griffith by her first husband, Harlin Griffith. She leaves
two brothers, Thomas Bowling and Ulus Bowling and three sisters, Liza
Harness, Etha Harness and Emiline Harness and a host of friends and
relatives to mourn her absence.

Jones, Robert A.-Born October 4, 1885, departed this life August 6, 1957.
Age 72 years. He was married to Etta Tompkins April 1906. To this union
were born 10 children. He professed a hope in Christ and united with the
Fellowship United Baptist Church at Armathwaite. Later he moved his letter
to Shirley United Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member until
death. He leaves to mourn his passing his companion and children, Mrs. Omer
York, Burrville, Tenn., Raymond, Albert, Marshall, Marvin and Mrs. Lester
Fretts of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. W. S. Garrett of Lenior City, Tenn., Mrs. Bill
Milsaps of Cleveland, Tenn., Mrs. Dow Heinel of Tucon [Tucson], Arizona, and
Cordie of Glenmary, Tenn. 44 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two
brothers, Joe of Shirley, Tenn., and Glen of Seattle, Washington; one
sister, Fannie Marken of Auburn, Washington, and many friends. We feel our
loss is his eternal gain in glory.

Hull, Eddie K.-Son of J. R. and Louisa Hull was born on August 21, 1889, was
married to Cora Tompkins January 1913. She departed this life, September 5,
1924. He later was united in marriage to Lillian Pennycuff, April 1, 1932.
He professed a hope in Christ and joined United Baptist Church at
Armathwaite, Tenn., on September 26, 1935, and lived a faithful life until
the Lord called him home on February 5, 1957. He leaves his wife and six
sisters and three brothers, William and Elmer of Armathwaite, Tenn., Roy of
Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Margaret Buck, Mrs. Artie Voiles, of Armathwaite,
Mrs. Carrie Bow, of Indiantown, Florida, Mrs. Audie Voiles, of Shirley,
Tenn., and Mrs. Floy Cross, of Jamestown, Mrs. Maudie Tompkins of Dayton,
Ohio and many relatives and friends and neighbors to mourn his departure.

Delk, Neaty Norman-Born February 13, 1878, departed this life, January 27,
1957. He professed a hope in Christ early in life and United with the
Fellowship Baptist Church, where she remained until death. She was united
in marriage to Blane Delk. To this union were born four children. Her
husband and one son having preceded her in death. Children living are, Mrs.
Flossie Gwin, Mrs. Loma Howard, and Mr. Lonzie Delk. She is the sister of
John Grant, Lee and Babe Norman. Services were conducted at Wolf River
Church. She was laid to rest in the Wolf River Cemetery.

Hull, William E.-Son of J. R. and Louisa Hull was born December 25, 1879,
departed this life, May 6, 1922. [He died in 1957, some information has
been omitted in the original obituary.] To this union were born seven
children, three boys and four girls; Mrs. Lena Balleimer of Rio Hando,
Texas; Mrs. Ruth Lewis of Brownsville, Texas; Mrs. Stella Smith of Dayton,
Ohio; Cleo of Monterey, Tenn.; Hall of Waukegan, Ill.; Cecil of Armathwaite,
Tenn. One daughter, Mrs. Grace Taubert, having preceded him in death. He
was married to Elizabeth Voiles, May 19, 1925. To this union were born two
children, Miss Elizabeth Hull of Harlington, Texas, Mrs. June Jones of
Jamestown, Tenn. He leaves his wife, eight children, nineteen
grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two brothers and six sisters, and
many friends and relatives to mourn his departure.

Hammond, Ruth-Age about 74, deceased this life very suddenly in July at her
home in Chattanooga. She joined this church by baptism fifty years ago. In
later years she made her home in Chattanooga, but never moved her membership
there. She used to love to visit her old home and church. About one week
before her death she made the statement she wanted to come to Helenwood once
more in life but she was called away by death. She leaves a husband, two
daughters, one son, two sisters and other relatives and friends who will
miss her presence in the home, but she has gone where death doesn't come.

Cross, Bertha-Wife of Bill Cross, deceased this life January 23rd, 1957.
She professed a hope in Christ in early youth. Came to this Church by
letter. She was a faithful member and always loved to talk about God's love
and how merciful he was. She leaves a husband, four sons and two daughters
who still sadly miss her. We feel sister Bertha is at rest and we will meet
her again where death, sickness and sorrow never comes. Helenwood Baptist
Church.

Wright, Lottie-age 54 yrs., wife of R. D. Wright, passed away June 24th,
1957. She joined the Pine Grove Baptist Church at an early age. She leaves
her husband and five children, one daughter, Anna Lee Wright of Winfield,
Tenn.; 4 sons, Charles, of the U. S. Army, James, Robert and McArthur Wright
of Winfield, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Geneva Shootman, [Shoopman],
Mrs. Mildred Smith; five sisters, one brother and a host of relatives and
friends to mourn her absence. We feel our loss is her eternal gain in
glory.
