Walker, J. W.-Was born July 13, 1867, departed this life March 30, 1957, age
89 years 8 mos., 11 days. He was married to Anna Orick and to this union
were born 9 children, one son and eight daughters. He is survived by six
daughters and one son, Luther Walker; Mrs. Janie Chitwood, Miss Lottie
Wright, Mrs. Hettie Chitwood, Miss Wilda Chitwood, Mrs. Dorothy Crabtree,
Mrs. Geneva King all of Winfield, Tenn., 45 grandchildren, 41 great
grandchildren plus many relatives and friends. He professed a hope in
Christ 49 years ago and united with the Pine Grove Baptist Church May 23,
1908. The most of his conversations were about his Savior. Brother Walker
had been blind for a long time. He would often quote the words of Paul. I
was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see. We know our loss is
great, but we feel his gain is greater, because he has gone to live with
God.
Spradlin, Mansaw Robbins-Was born May 14, 1873, departed this life October
18, 1956. She was 83 years, 5 months and 4 days old. She was united in
marriage to the late, Rev. Kim Cordell, who preceded her in death. They
adopted Bill Cordell, who also preceded her in death December 16, 1947. She
joined the Pine Knot Baptist Church at an early age. She was a faithful
Christian and a wonderful wife, grandmother and friend. She was united in
marriage to Ambrose Spradlin in 1940. She leaves to mourn her passing, her
husband, Ambrose Spradlin, Pine Knot; 4 grandchildren, Mrs. Naomi Lovett,
Mrs. Wilda Faye Murphy, Mrs. Polly Knight, all of Cincinnati, and Jimmie
Cordell, Pine Knot, Ky. She also leaves 5 great grandchildren, 2 brothers,
Riley Robbins, and Rev. Frank Robbins, Caryville, Tenn., besides a host of
friends and other relatives.
Ramsey, Curtis-Was born January 14, 1899, departed this life, September 13,
1957, age 58 years and 9 months old. He was the son of Elijah and Sarah
Ramsey. He professed a hope in Christ several years ago and at the time of
his death was a member of the United Baptist Church of Pine Knot. He lived
a faithful Christian life until the end. He was a kind and loving companion
and father to his wife and children. He leaves to mourn his absence his
wife Ida Hicks Ramsey and 10 children, 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild.
Mowen Ramsey, Dry Ridge, Ky., Alma Stringer and Pauline Ard, Cincinnati,
Ohio, Vivian Harris, of Fork Mountain, Tenn., all by a former marriage.
Jackie, Betty Faye, Edna Jean, Francis, Katherine, and Harold all of
Perintown, Ohio; Brothers Elbert Ramsey of Stearns, Ky., Virgil Ramsey,
Winfield, Tenn., Orits Ramsey, Oneida, Tenn., Hurstle Ramey of Cincinnati,
Ohio; one sister, Mable Strunk, of Strunk, Ky., and a great host of other
relatives and friends. He passed away at his home in Perintown, Ohio, of a
heart condition from which he had been suffering for a long time. We feel
sure that our loss is his eternal gain in glory.
Cooper, Oda-Son of Eli and Lucinda Cooper, which preceded him in death, was
born October 28th, 1895, departed this life, July 17th, 1957. He was 61
years, 9 months and 19 days of age. He married Pearl Stephens, July 21,
1920. To this union was born five sons and five daughters. Herman Cooper
of Loveland, Ohio, James, Clyde, Raymond, and Robert Cooper all of
Cincinnati, Ohio; Thelma Graham and Evelyn Neal of Cincinnati, Ohio, Bulah
Braden, Betty Cooper and Lois Cooper of Pine Knot. Sixteen grandchildren,
one brother, Linzie Cooper, Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Lillie Stephens,
Pine Knot, Etta Hicks, Loveland, Ohio. As a young man he joined the Sulphur
Springs United Baptist Church, he brought his membership to the United
Baptist Church at Pine Knot and lived a good Christian life until death. He
leaves a host of friends to mourn his passing. We feel our loss is his
eternal gain in glory.
Blevins, Juber-Born August 1, 1877, deceased this life April 13, 1957, age
80 years. He was a deacon of Oak Grove Church and a faithful member. He
leaves 8 children and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his absence.
We feel our loss is his eternal gain in glory.
Sexton, Mary Louise-Born November 20, 1869, deceased this life February
1,1957, age 87 years, 2 months and 12 days. She professed a hope in Christ
October, 1885, and joined Paint Rock Baptist Church and lived a devoted
Christian life until death. She was united in marriage to Talmon Sexton
and to this union were born seven children, Mrs. Norwood Bothell, Iowa City,
Iowa; Mr. Arthur Sexton, Sarasota, Florida, Mrs. Caldwell Jeffers, Oneida,
Tenn.; Mrs. A. Y. Yancey, Oneida, Tenn., Mr. Kermit Sexton, Oneida, Tenn.
Husband and two children preceded her in death. Mr. Clifford Sexton and
Mrs. Odell Sexton. 32 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and a
host of relatives and friends to mourn her passing. We feel our loss is her
eternal gain in glory.
