Burchfield, Mrs. Mary (Jeffers)-Was born November 12th, 1873, deceased this
life February 13th, 1950 at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 1 day. She
was married to Andy Lloyd, to this union was born one son, Andy who preceded
her in death. She married William Burchfield, to his union were born 9
children. She joined the old Bull Creek Church at an early age and later
came to Byrges Creek Church by letter. She lived a faithful member until
death. She leaves to mourn her absence an aged husband, William Burchfield
of Robbins, 6 sons, Berry Lloyd of Oneida, John Burchfield of Oneida, George
of Stainville, Esau and Harlan both of Robbins, Reuben of Barbourville, Ky.,
two daughters, Emma Henry of Robbins, Anna Buchshorn of Cincinnati, Ohio and
one sister Mrs. M.D. Lawson of Robbins and a large number of relatives and
friends. We feel our loss is her eternal gain in Glory.
Harness, Luke-Was born November 8, 1873, departed this life July 25, 1950.
He joined the Bull Creek Church on September 16, 1923, about 27 years ago
and lived a beautiful Christian life until death. He leaves to mourn his
absence a wife and four children and a host of grand children and great
grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. He was also ordained a
deacon of the church on September 1929 and made a good deacon. He has gone
to join his first wife who passed away about 8 years ago. May he rest in
peace. Surely his life has been a light to the ones that are still living.
We all hope to meet him in that sweet beyond.
Mullins, Mrs. Lou-Was born February 22, 1875, departed this life August 17,
1950, age 75 years 5 months and 25 days. She was married to Henry Mullins
and to this union were born 9 children of which 7 are still living.
McKinley Mullins, Carroll Mullins, Alfred Mullins, Allen Mullins, Hattie
Sexton all of Robbins, Mrs. E.M. Newport of New River, Mrs. E. A. Woldridge
of Cleveland, Ohio. She also leaves 1 brother ------- Cope of Forbus,
Tenn. She professed a hope in Christ and joined the Black Creek Baptist
Church September 25, 1938, where she remained a faithful member to the end.
She leaves 7 grandchildren and a great host of friends to mourn her going.
Our loss is her eternal gain in glory.
Newport, Mrs. Ollie-In the morning of May 4, 1950 at 8:00 a.m. the death
angel entered the home of Mrs. Ollie Newport and took her home. She was
married to A. J. Newport and to this union were born 10 children. She was
58 years, 8 months and 19 days old. She joined the Buffalo Church about 40
years ago and lived a faithful Christian life until death. She leaves 10
children, 5 grandchildren, 2 sisters and 4 brothers, and a host of friends
to mourn her absence. Her life was an inspiration to all to follow to
glory.
Lawson, Mrs. Maude-The daughter of the late George and Mrs. Floetia Crowley.
She was born August 13, 1901 and departed this life December 13, 1950. She
was married to Marion Lawson and to this union were born 3 children. She
was baptized and joined the Buffalo Church August 1937, and lived a faithful
Christian life until death. She leaves a husband, 3 children, 2 sisters and
2 brothers and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her absence. We
feel our loss is her eternal gain in glory.
Robbins, Brother John-Was born November 24th, 1882, and departed this life
February 25th, 1950. He accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized
September 20th, 1925 and was a faithful member of the Cherry Fork Church
until his death. He leaves a wife, 4 sons and 6 daughters, 1 step son and 1
step daughter and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his
absence. We feel our loss is his eternal gain in glory.
Cecil, Brother Reuben H.-About 65 years of age, a member of the Cherry Fork
Baptist Church, departed this life November 20th, 1949. He professed a hope
in Christ and was baptized in May 1906, and lived a devoted Christian life
until his death. He leaves a wife and several sons and daughters, and a
host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. We feel that our
loss is his eternal gain in glory.
Terry, Minnie- born June 23, 1889, died march 27, 1950, age 60 years, 9
months and 4 days. She joined the Capuchine Church at an early date, and
lived a faithful Christian life until death took her away. She leaves to
mourn her absence 2 sons and one daughter, mother, 2 sisters and 2 brothers,
husband and 1 son preceded her in death. We feel our loss is her eternal
gain in glory.
Richmond, Ellen Jeffers-Was born July 14, 1878, she was 71 years, 7 months
and 1 day old when she died. She was married to Curtis Richmond April 16,
1899, to this union 9 children were born. She was a member of Elk Fork
Church since girlhood. She told her children before she died that she
wouldn't be here long. But she was ready to go for she was saved and all
was well. We hope our loss is her eternal gain.
Tompkins, Carrie Iona George-Was born March 8, 1871, departed this life
February 10th, 1950. She was married to Ellsworth Tompkins Jan. 5th, 1890.
To this union were born 13 children, five preceding her in death. She was
saved and joined the Fellowship Baptist Church the 4th Sunday in August 1896
and was baptized the 5th of the same month. She lived a devoted Christian
life. She leaves one brother T. F. George of Fredonia, Pa., five sons,
Elmer of Dayton, O., Cordell of Pontiac, Mich., George of New River, T. Ray
and Clarence of Elgin, three daughters, Mrs. Freeman Welch and Mrs. Carrie
Stonecipher of Robbins and Leora Tompkins of Rugby. Funeral was preached by
Rev. L.M. Jeffers. As we loved her, so we miss her. In memory she is
always near. Loved and remembered, longed for always. Bringing us many
silent tears. She had a smile for everyone. A heart as pure as gold. To
us who truly loved her, her memory will never grow old. Sadly missed by her
children.
Angel, Alvin-Was born October 5, 1908, departed this life June 6, 1950. He
was 42 years, 8 months and one day old, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arch
Angel. He was united in marriage to Miss Ora Beatty June 11, 1929, to this
union were one daughter Joice[Joyce] Lee. Alvin joined the United Baptist
Church July 15, 1939 and later on was ordained a deacon in the church, he
lived a faithful Christian life until God called him home. He leaves to
mourn his passing a wife, Mrs. Ora Angel, one daughter Joyce Lee Angel of
Revelo, a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Angel of Stearns, three
brothers, George, Arthur, Roscoe, all of Stearns and a host of friends, he
was loved by all who knew him and many were grieved to learn of his passing
but we feel our loss is his eternal gain in glory. Silerville Church.
