Slaven, Martin-Born May 24, 1900, departed this life on April 6,
1950 at the age of 49 years, 10 months and 11 days old. He joined the New
Light Baptist Church and was baptized 10 month, 11th day of 1938. Brother
Slaven while waiting patiently on the painful hour of death he told his
family he was ready to go home up yonder and asked them all to get ready to
meet him, he was a devoted husband and loving father, he leaves here to
mourn his passing, his wife and 6 children all of Oneida, Tenn., and a host
of relatives and friends. We feel sure that Brother Slaven is resting
somewhere today in the great beyond and that our loss is his eternal gain.

Bell, Hurstle D.-Was born October 25, 1901. He joined the Oak
Grove Baptist Church of Bell Farm, Ky., Oct. 18, 1938. Was a faithful
member until death. Died Dec. 22, 1949. Leaves 1 sister, 4 brothers and a
host of friends to mourn his passing but we feel that our loss is his
eternal gain.

Bell, Bill-Born October 18, 1889, age 59 years, 11 months,
died October 1, 1949. He joined the Oak Grove Baptist Church of Bell Farm,
Ky., August 1, 1915. He was a faithful member until death. He leaves a
wife and 4 children, 5 brothers and 1 sister also a host of friends to mourn
his passing, but we feel that our loss is his eternal gain.

Dobbs, Noah-age 54, died in Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville
last Thursday, July 13 following an illness of several days. Mr. Dobbs, who
had been in the coal business for a number of years was well known and had a
large number of friends. He was born at Strunk, Ky., the son of Mack Dobbs,
in Sept. 1895. He was a veteran of World War I and member of the Baptist
Church. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace Dobbs; two sons, Hastle of
Oneida and Hurstle of Cincinnati, O.; three brothers, Dan of Oneida, W.M. of
Huntsville and McKinley of Helenwood; three sisters, Mrs. Roscoe Chambers of
Oak Ridge, Mrs. Roscoe Brown of Helenwood, and Mrs. Wolford Jeffers of
Helenwood. Funeral services were held at the Paint Rock Baptist Church
Sunday, July 16, with Revs. Leland Thomas and Hurstle Lay officiating.
Interment in the family cemetery with Hickman-West in charge.

Cross, Henry-born December 26, 1885, deceased this life
October 23, 1949, age 63 years, 9 months and 27 days. He joined Capuchine
Baptist Church, December 28, 1903, later moved his membership to Paint Rock
Baptist Church, and was ever a faithful member until death. He delighted in
church work. Serving as church clerk most of his Christian life also served
as clerk of West Union Association for 16 consecutive years and deacon of
Paint Rock Church for more than 20 years. He leaves a loving wife, Mrs.
Louisiana Sexton Cross and also five lovely children, two daughters and
three sons, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. We know
our loss is his eternal gain in glory.

Smith, John Sidney-Was born June 18, 1877, departed this life
Nov. 3, 1949, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 15 days. He professed a
hope in Christ and joined the Pine Creek Baptist Church in 1895, later
moving his membership to Bethlehem Church where he remained a member until
death.

Terry, Emily West-Was born April 10, 1906, departed this life
April 28, 1950, age 44 years, 18 days, she was married to Clifford Terry in
1933, to this union were born six children, three boys and three girls.
Three children preceded her in death. She joined the Paint Rock Church May
1, 1921 and was a faithful member until death. She leaves to mourn her
absence her husband, three children, mother, four sisters and one brother
and a host of friends and relatives, we feel our loss is her gain in glory.

Duncan, Mrs. Jane (Terry)-Born May 20, 1863, deceased this
life May 18, 1950, age 78 years, 11 months and 29 days, she was married to
Euell Duncan, he passed this life July 15, 1942. To this union were born 8
children, 5 sons and 3 daughters, one son and one daughter preceded them in
death. Surviving 30 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, one great great
grandchild, 3 brothers, W. A. Terry, J. M. Terry, A. C. Terry, one sister,
Mrs. Nancy Ann Litton. She professed a hope in Christ, joined the Paint
Rock Church and was baptized October 4, 1941. She lived a faithful
Christian life until death. We feel our loss is her eternal gain in Heaven.

Strunk, Mary-Departed this life January 25, 1950 at the age of 80
years. Sister Strunk professed a hope in Christ in 1900 and joined the
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she remained a member until death. She
leaves to mourn for her, several children, a number of grandchildren and
many near relatives and friends. We feel that our loss is her great gain
and she is resting where trouble cannot come. May the family circle not be
broken in glory.
