Wright, Bettie-Was born May 4, 1869, at the age of 14 she
professed a hope in Christ and joined Upper Jellico Creek Baptist Church, in
1925 Sister Wright came by letter to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church were
she remained a faithful member until the Lord called her by death June 11,
1950. She leaves to mourn for her, her husband, Henderson C. Wright, 11
children, 40 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren, a host of relatives
and friends. We feel that the church has lost a faithful member and the
family a good mother. We feel sure that our loss is her gain in glory.
Strunk, Calvin-Departed this life May 9, 1950 at the age of 53
years, he professed a hope in Christ in early life and became a member of
Pleasant Grove Church, where he remained a member until death. He leaves a
wife, several children, brothers, sisters and many relatives and friends to
grieve for him.
Grant, Sallie-The wife of the late Joseph Grant, departed this
life February 8th, 1950 at the age of 68 years. Sister Grant joined the
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church about 1900, where she remained a member until
death. She leaves to grieve for her 3 children, a number of brothers and
sisters, and many near relatives and friends, the children have lost a good,
kind mother and the church a faithful member. We feel sure our great loss
is her gain in glory.
George, Brother B.W.-Was born in 1897, age 54 years, departed
this life August 1950. He professed a hope in Christ 13 years ago, lived a
faithful member until death. He leaves 2 sons, one daughter and a host of
friends to mourn his passing. We feel our loss is his eternal gain in
glory. Elk Fork Baptist Church.
Hull, Elder Cleveland-Was born April 10th, 1890, departed
this life April 19, 1950, age 60 years, 9 days. He was married to Minnie
Tompkins December 29, 1912, to this union were born seven children, 3 boys
and 4 girls, Ovid and Owen Hull and Mrs. Boyd Bow of Dayton, O., Mrs. John
Reagan of Jamestown, Mrs. Caldwell Smith of Armathwaite and Virgil Hill of
Shirley, one having been called away in infancy. He was converted July 3,
1914 and joined the United Baptist Church of which he lived a faithful
member. He was deacon of the church for many years, he leaves to mourn his
passing his wife and 6 children, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, Arthur and Virgil
Hull of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Kelly Brooks of Armathwaite, Charlie Hull and
Mrs. Beaty Stephens of Shirley and 13 grandchildren also a host of friends
and relatives. He was a loving father and faithful husband and was loved by
all who knew him. A precious one from us has gone, a voice we loved is
still, a place is vacant in our home which never can be filled. Shirley
Baptist Church.
Garland, Nannie-Was born October 4, 1872, departed this life
June 13, 1949, age 77 years, 8 months and 9 days. She professed a hope in
Christ at an early age and united with Meadows Creek Baptist Church and
later joined Sulphur Springs United Baptist Church by letter and lived a
devoted Christian life until death. She was ever patient in her suffering
and often spoke of longing to be with savior. We feel our loss of her is
Heaven's gain.
Cadle, Mary Lee (Spangler)-Born December 16, 1898, departed this
life September 1, 1950, age 52 years, 9 months and 3 days. She was married
to Bill Curtis Cadle, June 16, 1916. She leaves her husband and five
children. James Cadle, Armathwaite, Clarence Cadle, Jamestown, Irene
Ausmus, of Ark., Ruby Hull of Ohio, Lula M. Cadle, Armathwaite; 1 brother,
three half brothers, two half sisters, stepmother and 13 grandchildren and a
host of relatives and friends to mourn her absence. She was a kind and
loving mother and a loving Christian, she joined the church at an early age.
She lived a Christian life and a faithful member until death. We feel that
she is gone where there is no pain, and is peacefully resting with God in
Glory. Shirley Baptist Church.
Carson, Mrs. Ollie-Born May 6, 1894; died March 22, 1950; age
55 years, 10 months, 16 days. She joined the Tunnel Hill Baptist Church on
February 16, 1923. She leaves a father, mother, 1 son, 4 daughters, 2
brothers and 3 sisters to mourn her absence. We feel she is resting from
all her labors here on earth.
Marcum, Polly-Born July 21, 1876; died May 5, 1950; age 73
years, 9 months, 14 days. She joined the Tunnel Hill Church August 16, 1925
and remained until death. She leaves a host of relatives and friends to
mourn her absence. We feel our loss is her gain in glory.
Anderson, Lassa-Was a member of Corinth Church at Smokey Jct.,
was a faithful working Christian, always filled her seat at her regular
church time, was a good student in Sunday School as long as she was able to
come but Jesus called her home last January 15, 1950. We feel our loss is
heaven's gain.
