Subject: [McC] Perkins Y DNA study
Date: Wed, 11 Sep 2002 19:12:05 -0400
Hello:
In the Cumberland River counties, particularly McCreary and Whitley, there
are at least 4 different Perkins families: descendants of Jabez Perkins of
NC and CT; descendants of Richard Perkins of MD; descendants of Rev Peter
Perkins of TN; descendants of Nicholas Perkins of VA, and, probably others.
I have organized a Parkins and Perkins surname Y DNA study. We now have 17
participants, 9 men have taken the DNA test, and 8 results are on the study
web page at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~scperkins/PerkinsDNA.html
I am looking for more men named Perkins who would be interested in taking
the test. Information on the tests and the cost is on the web page. I do
not make any money from this.
I am a descendant of Jabez Perkins, and we have several descendants of Rev
Peter Perkins who are testing. The more persons we can test, the greater
chance we can connect people together, and the less time and money someone
will spend on tracing the wrong ancestors.
Let me know if you have questions or would like to participate. Only men
can be tested since they have the Y chromosome. Perkins females could
offer to sponsor a brother or a cousin for the test.
Thanks for reading,
Steven C. Perkins
