Subject: [McC] Announcing: McCreary Pioneers Cemetery Preservation Society
Date: Sat, 15 Mar 2003 07:34:32 -0600
Hello Everyone;
I am very happy to announce the formation of a new cemetery preservation
organization in McCreary Co. that all of us should take interest in. They
ask for and welcome your participation and support. Please think about
becoming a member and getting involved in any way that you can be of help.
Currently they are asking for any information anyone can provide to them
about the location of old burials in the county.
The name of the organization is:
**McCreary Pioneers Cemetery Preservation Society**
Constitution and bylaws have been agreed upon and signed. Papers have been
filed for incorporation.
The officers of McCreary Pioneers Cemetery Preservation Society are:
President: Sam Perry - Local historian and author
Vice President: Naydean Vanover
Secretary: Vicki King
Treasurer: Mintford (Ned) Rollins
Board of Directors:
Steve Perry: 3 year
Jennifer Perry: 3 year
Harold Rollins: 2 year
Larry Vanover: 2 year
Sam Perry: 1 year
There are two types of memberships to choose from:
1) Regular - those who live in McCreary County and regularly attend the
meetings
2) Associate - those who live outside the county and are unable to attend
the monthly meetings but support the group.
The meetings will be held the 2nd Friday of each month in the McCreary
Public Library's Community Room, starting at 7:00 PM. The next meeting will
be April 11.
At the April 11th meeting the members will elect an historian and start
organizing committees for the following divisions: Historical, Social,
Fundraising, Youth Activities, and Cemetery Clean Up.
I am very honored and pleased that they have seen fit to make me an
honorary carter member even though I live a long way from the area now. I
plan to do whatever I can to help and support this very worthwhile
organization. They have some wonderful people to get them started. These
are people who really love and care about McCreary County, its history and
its people. They have already worked hard and are devoting a lot of time,
energy and resources to this and I just know that we will see good things
come from this group.
Please do your part and get involved. There are SO many of us who have
loved ones and ancestors buried in McCreary County cemeteries. This is a
wonderful opportunity for all of us to do our part.
If you have questions or would like to inquire further about becoming a
charter member of *McCreary Pioneers Cemetery Preservation Society* you may
email Steve Perry at <> .... He will get back to you
as soon as possible. He has a family and a full-time job in addition to all
his time devoted to this new organization and I expect that he will get a
lot of email now so please be patient in expecting a reply. Very soon you
will be able to find information and updates about the organization on the
Down Home - McCreary County website.
I would like to publicly add my thanks and congratulations to all the
founders and officers. The hard work and dedication you give to this will
be appreciated by so many and will help to insure that our heritage is
preserved for future generations. My sincerest heartfelt thanks go out to
all of you.
Sincerely,
Margy
