For more information on the Stearns Coal and Lumber
Company and it's mining communities. Your best
resource would be Dawn Strunk, the McCreary County
Museum manager in Stearns. She houses the 1939 photos
which are available for sale and the book: Stearns
Coal & Lumber Company Employee Information, which has
valuable information. For more information on how to
contact Dawn use the McCreary County Resource Link
from my website www.clarkcombsclan.com
You can also view an excerpt from the Stearns, KY &
Its Mining Communities booklet on the feature link.

I felt this information was important to pass on
because those doing research often forget about
Museums for resources. The McCreary County Museum in
particular is very interesting because it is housed in
the old corporate headquarters of the Stearns Coal and
Lumber Company.
