Thanks Carolyn but this I know. It's the small communities that were in
Pulaski, Wayne & Whitley Co., KY before McCreary Co., KY was formed that I
don't know. I found a map of the Pulaski Co., KY voting precincts for the
1900 census which showed me that that Eagle, Parkers Lake, Barren Fork &
Whitley City were in Pulaski Co., KY. When McCreary Co., KY was formed in
the latter part of 1912 they became part of it. Oh yeah & a community
called Beaver was in Pulaski Co. I'm unsure where that is and if it is now
a part of McCreary.

Ann - Sorry McCreary Co., KY 1st census was done in 1920 and then the 2nd
one in 1930. I'd been looking at parts of the census taken from Whitley,
Wayne & Pulaski before McCreary Co., KY was formed. Saying that McCreary
Co., KY had a census taken in 1912 was wrong on my part. As Carolyn said
McCreary County was formed in 1912 from parts of Whitley, Wayne, and Pulaski
Co., KY & was named for Governor James B. McCreary.

Allen - thanks. So the mine was at Fidelity & the PO was at Shoopman.
Before 1912 this was a part of Wayne Co., KY. Right? Do you have any idea
how far apart Fidelity & Shoopman was? Or was it in the same place/area,
more or less?

That's like here in Strunk (if I have it right) on the south bound trip the
mail was picked up at the Silerville Depot & on the return trip it was hung
in Strunk. Which is where the PO is located. We have a double track
crossing on Mt. Pleasant Rd (1470 W). To me Silerville & Strunk are the
same place. I'll try & remember when Marcella gets back on Sunday to ask
her if I got it right.

After talking to Mom I have no idea where I live. I do know the PO is in
Strunk. Maybe a city block or two from the PO is the Silerville Church.
About a mile away from the PO is the old Silerville school house. Across
the RR track (1470 W) is the Silerville Cemetery.

Joy - I bought it from the Stearns Museum for $35. It has the employee
listed, their parents & spouse if known. It has a little over 200 pages. I
've found it extremely useful.

Can anyone tell me how far into what is now McCreary Co.that Wayne Co. went?
I guess what I'm asking is what part of McCreary Co. was orginally Wayne Co.
This would be before Dec 1912. I'm figuring that the following were located
in Wayne Co., KY until McCreary Co., KY was formed. If not someone let me
know.

STEARNS
Hemlock
Barthell (Across the river is the trail to the Nancy Grave School)
Comargo
Worley
Yamacraw
-----------------Rock Creek

White Oak Junction

White Oak Junction to Co-Operative 1 mile

Comargo To Blue Heron

Blue Heron & Mine 18 are the same place.
