MUNCIE - Theodore "Ted" Slavey, 80, died Thursday, October 7, 2004 at
Parkview Nursing Center in Muncie after a long illness.
He was born August 8, 1924 in Stearns, Kentucky and a son to the late
Harrison and Jane (Gregory) Slavey.
He retired in 1979 from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle after 30 years of
service. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. He was a
resident of New Castle since 1948, moving to Muncie in 1984. He was a member of
Christian Pilgrim Church in New Castle. He enjoyed attending numerous church camps
in the Midwest and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Gladah Isbill Slavey of Muncie; three sons,
Roscoe (wife, Ellen) Slavey, Jimmy (wife, Vanessa) Slavey and Robert Slavey, all of
New Castle; a daughter, Shirley (husband, Leamon) Raines of New Castle; a
step-son, Freddie Isbill of Muncie; two step-daughters, Lois (husband, David)
Jackson of Muncie and Jewel (husband, Edmond) Greer of Parker City; ten
grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife,
Virginia Stephens Slavey in 1982; a step-son, Donald Isbill; two sisters and a
brother.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at Hinsey-Brown
Funeral Service with Rev. Steve Sherwood officiating. Burial will follow in Mt.
Summit Cemetery with military rites provided by the American Legion and
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2004 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Christian Pilgrim Church with
envelopes provided at the funeral home.
