MUNCIE - Hubert E. Phillips, 76, Muncie, passed away Friday evening, March
18, 2005 at Ball Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 31, 1928, in Stearns, Kentucky, the son of Nora Clark
Phillips and Marcus Phillips. Hubert grew up in Kentucky and moved to the Muncie area
in 1952.
He worked at Ball Corp for 35 years and retired in 1993.
His hobbies included fishing; hunting; tinkering in the garage; working on
cars and he loved spending time with his family. He was a former member of the
NRA.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ella Mae Anderson Phillips; five
daughters, Pat Zebendon, (husband-Kerry), Farmland; Ruth Stassen, (husband-Bob),
Muncie; Pam Baker, Muncie; Kathy Blair, (husband-Steve), Muncie and Carol
Gensler, (husband-Bill), Ohio; five brothers, Gurstel Phillips, (wife-Elizabeth),
Muncie; Ray Phillips, (wife-Freda), Stearns, Kentucky; Harold Phillips,
(wife-Joyce), Muncie; Boyd Phillips, (wife-Peggy), Stratford, New Jersey; and Larry
Phillips, Selma; his brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Christine Anderson,
Muncie; nine grandchildren, Zachary; Cari, (husband-Kevin); Kylee,
(fiance-Chris); Jeremy; Neeley; Erin, (fiance-Chris); Hayley; Amy, (husband-Tim); and
Angie, (husband-Frank) and a special family friend, Sandy Wheat.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Boyce Phillips and
Jimmy Phillips; one grandson, Joshua; one sister-in-law, Donna Phillips; his
father-in-law, Monroe Anderson and his mother-in-law, Ethel Anderson.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of The Meeks
Mortuary and Crematory with Pastor Hoyt Davis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory from 4:00 until 8:00
p.m. Monday or after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.
