Does anyone know someone who knew Marthy Worley Neal, her son, Elisha Worley and daughter Florence Worley? They were born in Ritner, Wayne Co.KY. Florence was b. 1878 and Elisha was born 1879. Florence was a mystery to me for years. She had a boyfriend, Bill Roberts, who promised to marry her. They had first born Ethel Worley 1896 Wayne Co. KY. Florence gave the baby her maiden name because you had to give the baby your present surname if unmarried. Their next was Herman Chas Worley b. 1898. I don't know what happened to Ethel. I just know bits and pieces of folk lore and memories from a great daughter-in-law. Anyway, Bill Roberts married someone else. Florence was mighty pissed. Talk about a woman scorned! In her insanity, she gave both children to Bill's mother, Sally Roberts. Then when she calmed down, her brother Elisha went with her to get the children from the Robert's place. Sally kept the girl, Ethel Worley, but allowed them to take Herman. It was said that Herman l!
ooked just like Bill. I can research Herman and know where he was with his death certificate. I found his kids and all. There is no mention of Ethel Worley or her where abouts. The Mccreary Record ran a genealogy piece on them and was able to hook up with the great gd-i-l of Pearl Garland who was Herman's second wife. Her great grandmother-in-law was still alive and sharp at 82. I was informed that Bill's mother Sally Roberts, was mean to the little girl. Herman, who had remarried, lived close to his mother but did not keep Ethel. Does anyone know if Ethel Worley survived, married or had a family?
