Message Board Post:

Kimberly,

I was trying to track the Perry history from O.B. Perry backwards. I think I've uncovered most of the Perry family history (via Ancestry.com) from O.B. to present day. I've found that O.B. is buried in Higginbotham Cemetery in Beulah Heights but I can't seem to find any information on his father, Ebenezer, or whether he was from VA or NC and if he came to McCreary with a land grant or not. There seems to be some suggestion that his line came from Solomon Perry (of England) who married a Cherokee woman in NC and begat Richard Perry who begat Ebenezer who in turn begat Ogleton. But again, I'm not sure if this is correct. At any rate, I'll be going to Frankfort soon to see what I can uncover. (This genealogy project is all part of a XMas present.) Also, would you happen to know if one of O.B.'s sons (James E.) moved to Harlan to work in the coal mines and started a Perry line there?

Thanks,
Jenny
