When we owned a farm in Maine we noticed, upon purchase, that the oringinal
deed was, indeed, one of these Revolutionary War grants and signed by
General George Washington. The three men who had been given the grant (two
brothers and the oldest man's son) were buried only a short distance from
the house and we were honored that the DAR came up to decorate their graves
on every holiday.
