I did not get upset because the man did not know something but because
he snidely wrote that nothing of what I said had ever happened even
though I gave references. If one doesn't know then he should keep his
mouth shut and look up the information instead of rudely denying the
existence in more than one letter, especially since I was helping
someone who had asked the question about Maine. He certainly didn't
have the answer and if he had wanted to know he would have asked for
more information, not deny history. He butted in when he had no
business. I'm sorry that I stooped to his level, but I unsubscribed
because I want to be no part of something that has that man as a part
of its program, especially a LEWIS program.
I am glad you were taught the Pilgrims were the first in New England
for now the Pilgrims are being completely ignored in some textbooks.
I, too, was told about the Pilgrims, even more than thirty years ago,
but never about the earlier trading posts/villages other than
Jamestown, Va. No matter what one is taught, politeness should take
precedence over everything else. Thanks for your letter. If you want
to write me personally about Lewis families, feel free to do so. I
have my husband's in the South and those who married into my Redding
family early New England.
I also have two homepages if you want to see my other surnames:
http://maxpages.com/ancestral (this one also has a list of fraudulent
researchers that the National Gen. Society published originally)
and
