I asked at the embassy (Lithuanian) several years ago and the Lithuanian there
told me that I would be nuts to even consider such a thing unless I intended
to live in Lithuania. He actually sited the case of an American with dual
citizenship in Yugoslavia who was drafted into the Yugo army while he was
visiting Yugo. He had no rights as an American to resist the draft and the US
embassy was unable to do anything since he was a Yugo citizen.

The embassy person also told me that everyone was trying to get out of
Lithuania..to get US citizenship...

Except for Adamkus apparently..
