In her book, THE JAMES STEWART FAMILY OF EARLY AUGUSTA COUNTY, VIRGINIA
AND DESCENDANTS, 1740-1960, Florence S. Dicker son gives the following
line;

1--John Stewart of Rockbridge, Va.
2--James Stewart
sp- Ann Lafferty, Augusta County, Va
2--John Stewart, Jr. of Rockbridge, Va
2--Mary Ann Stewart
sp- John Hamilton, Augusta County, Va
2--Robert Stewart a bachelor who died by 1782

Another internet post Dec 17,1998 by listed the
line as follows:

1-- James (William?) STEWART-113226 p (1692- )
2-- Rebecca STEWART-103228 (1718- )
sp-Ralph LAVERTY-103232 (1714- ) Dublin,,,Ireland
2-- James STUART-101534 p (1720-1757) ,,Ulster,Ireland
sp-Mary Ann LAFFERTY-101535 p (1724- )
2-- Robert STEWART-103229 (1722- )
sp-Elizabeth CARTMELL-103234 (1726- )
2-- William STEWART-103230 (1723- )
sp-Sarah FOOTE-103235 (1732- )
2-- John STEWART-103231 (1724- )

In both cases John Stewart, Jr. of Rockbridge, Va or John Stewart born
1724 were brothers of James Stewart who married Mary Ann Lafferty. Can
anyone give me more information about either of these John StewartÂ’s?

I am looking for the parents of John Stewart of Fourth Creek, Iredell
County, NC who was born about 1740-1750 in Augusta County, VA (according
to his Revolutionary War Pension application) whose father and brother
were described in the History of Concord Church (Iredell County, NC) as
having been killed by Indians in the vicinity of Fort Dobbs, NC in 1756.
