Hey Kathy N.C. list members,
Saw your post to the N. Carolina list showing your related to the early Cathey
line there. I descend from the Carruth (Caruth) family found in your e-mail
just before Cathey. There were some Carruth/Cathey marriages. If you'd like
information on these or other information about the Carruth family, let me
know and I'll do my best to provide an answer for you. My first ancestor to
migrate to N. Carolina was Adam Carruth who came along with brother Walter
Carruth and sister-in-law Jean (Jane) Carruth. Jean's husband Alexander
(brother of Walter and Adam) died while the family lived in Lancaster County,
Pa. The family owned a good piece of land in what is now lower Iredell Co.,
N.C.

Subject: [NCROOTS-L] Carolina Cradle by Ramsey Look Up
Hi all,
For the many of you that have sent me look up requests that aren't
familiar with the book: Carolina Cradle by Ramsey. It is mostly of the
settlement of the Northwest Carolina Frontier, 1747-1762. Lots of
info for Rowan County. Obviously most of the info from the book is
based on NC. There are many names that are of Quaker, Presbyterian,
Baptist and other denomination origin. Passenger lists from ships with
origins of sailing's, destinations, and dates are also listed.
There is a list of first settlers in the area between the Yadkin and
the Catawaba that includes names such as Carter, Bryan, Hughes, Davis,
Gamble, Dunn, Forbush, Linville, Gillespie, Holmes, Bell Cathey,
Graham, Kennedy, Brandon (my line), Lock/e (another of my lines),
Davidson, Templeton, Till, Osborne, Carruth, Cathey ( my line as well
as Elizabeth Doles - her mother is a Cathey descendant), Brevard,
Sherrill. >>
