I am researching the Douglas family from North Carolina and this is
my first post. My companion, Thomas O'Neil Douglas passed away in Nov
1998 and we have a 2 year old son. Before Tom passed away we discussed
my searching his family tree. Tom's father, Clarence O'Neil Douglas was
one of 11 children all born in Wayne Co. NC. When he was young, his
mother died and the girls went to live with the eldest sister and the
boys were sent to an orphanage in an unknown location.

I am having trouble locating information for alot of these
children. There are three remaining children alive to day two of which
I have been told aren't willing to talk to me and I haven't been able to
get in touch with the last. One said, "It wouldn't make any difference
if I talk about them because they were all born at home and all made up
their birthdates to obtain birth certificates". I do know that they were
born at home but would seem to think that they at least know when they
were born.

I will be taking a trip with a friend to NC in about two weeks and
wanted to ask how I would go about obtaining information on them while I
was there. I have absoutely no clue where to start and don't know where
they might be buried. Several of them relocated to Maryland, where I am
from and some died in NC. I have the obituary of a Clarence Neal
Douglas and from what it says he was born in Darlington, SC and lived
and died there. His brother James lived in NC and I am not sure where
their parents were from.

Maybe someone out there is researching the same line. The info. I
have so far is this:

He married Maria(Marie) Revell (?)
James Archie Douglas He married Eva McCutcheon (?)

Clarence Neal had two children:

Madeline Douglas Jensen listed in the obit. as residing in Baltimore, MD

"Elsie" Eloise Douglas Radspinner b. 11 Feb 1904 d. 18 Mar 1954
She is buried next to her father.

James and Eva McCutcheon Douglas had the following children at home in
Goldsboro, NC, Wayne Co.

I would appreciate any help you could give me. I am enjoying the
research but find it very frustrating. I haven't been able to find out
much on the internet so far and have no clue where to begin once I am in
NC.
