I'll take what you've written to work and see if I can come up with anything
else to help. I thought his death registration would have given place of birth,
but obviously not. Tricky.

We have other librarians who know more about British Isles research than I, so
will ask. My main experience is Germany and Switzerland, although i am taking a
journey into Scotland and Ireland with my partner's ancestors.

Heidi

PS As I am only subscribed to the Armagh digest, best write to me directly,
otherwise there is quite a delay.

I found him on the British 1881 census, living in Humble Lane, Wingate, Co. Durham, England, however it did not reveal where he was born in Ireland. I know from some family memoires that he came from Lurgan, Armagh, but whether he was born there or not I don't know.
