Subject: [NIR-ARMAGH-L] Armagh Flax Growers and linen weavers.
Date: Fri, 23 Jul 1999 14:20:29 -0700

Not too long ago someone mentioned on this list a "Flax Grower's List of
1796":
Can you say more about what infomation is available in this book and
where to get it?

One of my MENARY cousins wrote that "The family story is that the
Menarys were originally
French (or Dutch) Huguenots who left France in the 18th century (or
earlier?) and settled
in County Armagh (via Holland?). They may have been weavers (of linen)
in both countries."
In some of the records the name was spelt "Minary" or "McNary" or Manary
or Menerey.

Thanks for your help,
Susan
