Dear Peggy,
In 1864, I have located an Edward McGee and James Mitten in the
townland of Ballynary, Civil parish of Tartaraghan, O' Neilland west
Barony. In the same parish, a James McParland record appears in
Derrinaw Townland along with one for James Mitten. Same
parish....Christopher McGee appears in Cloncore Townland.
The only record for" Mitton" was in County Wexford where there are
many Mittens. Most likely, you will find the people from Ballynarry or
Derrinraw are nearby to Cloncore and may have attended church together
or had other ties.. Your good luck may be the relative scarcity of
Mittens in the north of Ireland
Church record availability depends upon the religion of your
forbears. If they are Roman Catholic check with the parish priest of
Loughall Parish, Loughall County Armagh which incorporates parishoners
of the Civil parish of Tartaraghan. Good luck! Please let me know how
you do.
Regards.....Leo J. Cannon, Gainesville, Florida
