I would like to thank all of you who responded to my query regarding my
LENNON Grandparents. The reason I know so little is that my mother, Sarah
Ellen LENNON, ran away from home at age 16. She never had any contact with
her parents after that. As some of you requested, here is some more info:
This is all I know regarding my mother's side of the family:
Her father James was born in 1883 (County Armagh) and he died in 1952
(Adelaide, South Australia). His wife Ellen BAYLISS (Eleanor? Helen?) was
born 10/5/1882 (Co. Armagh). I recently heard from a cousin who told me
that Ellen was born between 1886-1887. ??? They lived close to each other
and were childhood sweethearts. Because of their different religions, when
they got married for the first time in 1899, both families disowned them.
Both extended families moved to Liverpool, England. James & Ellen were
married, a second time, by a Catholic Ceremony, in Liverpool (Pierhead) in
1902.
A cousin told me that Ellen had an aunt (surname DIXON) who owned a
small dry good shop in Liverpool.
Ellen's father was William BAYLISS. He was a colonel of Belfast
Barracks (British Army). Ellen's mother was named Mary. I was told her
last name was DUNNE, but do not know this for sure.
Ellen had 4 brothers: William, Joseph, Samuel & Thomas BAYLISS.
Samuel served with the 3rd Battalion, Middlesex Regiment, under Lt. Col.
John Ward, during WWII. Joseph married Mary Anne (no last name) in St
Vincent's R.C. Church, Park Lane on 11/23/1901.
I made contact with 2nd. cousin, Arthur BAYLISS (son of Sam BAYLISS) -
Widnes, Cheshire, England. Unfortunately, he knew less about the family
than I do.
Ellen also had two sisters: Mary Jane & Elizabeth. I know nothing
about Mary Jane but Elizabeth (referred to as "poor Liz") lived and worked
in a Catholic convent. She had a hairlip - hence her nickname.
Ellen & James had 14 children:

1) The oldest James LENNON was born in Liverpool in 1903. He married a
young lady named Winnie (Last Name Unknown) from the channel islands. James
did not emigrate to Australia when the rest of the family did. James served
in the British Navy during World War II. He drowned trying to save another
sailor. His widow & children, then emigrated to Australia.

2) Anne LENNON was the oldest daughter. She was born, 4/10/1905. She was in
nurses training when the family moved to Australia. Upon completing her
training, she also went to Australia. There she married Archibald
LAPTHORNE. They had one son - Robert Ingersoll LAPTHORNE. Arch has been
married previously and had a son named Colin. Ann died, in Adelaide,
Australia in December of 1992.

3) I have no birthdate for Chris LENNON. He served in the Australian Navy
during WWII. Chris never married. He was a lifeguard at Semaphore Beach,
Adelaide, Australia. He was murdered, on Christmas Day, by smothering, at
Semaphore, by some men he had previously thrown off the beach. I have a copy
a newspaper article stating these facts but it is not dated, so I don't know
what year he died.

4) Thomas LENNON (Don't know birthdate) married a young lady by the name of
Rose (Last Name Unknown). Tom served in the Australian Air Force during
WWII. That is all I know.

5) Francis (Frank LENNON) married a widow by the name of Cynthia. She had
several children of her own. They had about 4-5 more children themselves.
Frank LENNON served with the Australian Army during WWII. Frank just died a
short while ago.
6) Joseph LENNON was born 10/8/1906 in Liverpool. At age 15, he went to see.
He up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada where me married Ellen Jane WEIR (from
Scotland). He served with the Canadian Army as an engineer. He and Ellen
had two children: Elizabeth & Joseph Robert LENNON.
7) Samuel LENNON married Beryl (Last Name Unknown). That is all I know
about him.
8) George LENNON married Phyllis BAKER, in Australia.
9) Thomas LENNON served with the Australian Air Forcer during WWII. That's
all I have.
10) My mother, Sarah Ellen LENNON, was born 4/2/1916 in Liverpool. She
married Wayne WALK (born 1/6/1921 in Grafton, Iowa, died 5/31/1977 Mpls, Mn)
in 1944. She passed away 11/2/1995.
11) Mary Josephine LENNON was the youngest daughter. She married Ray
BRYANT, in Adelaide. They had 4 children.
12) Edward LENNON - died in childhood. Was accidentally hit on the head
with a swinging blackboard, by his teacher, he died.
13) Martin LENNON - died as an infant
14) Valentine LENNON - died as an infant

That is the sum of my knowledge about my mother's family. I am so new at
this, that I do not know where to look.
