Hi Therese,
Index to Griffith's Valuation of Ireland, 1848-1864
Monaghan,Donagh,Town of Emyvale
Mc Kenna, Anne
Mc Kenna, Bernard
Mc Kenna, Catherine
Mc Kenna, Edward
Mc Kenna, Ellen
Mc Kenna, Henry
Mc Kenna, Hugh
Mc Kenna, James
Mc Kenna, John
Mc Kenna, Mary
Mc Kenna, Patrick
Mc Kenna, Philip
In Co. Monaghan there is a Aghaloughan in the civil parish of Donagh. This
might be the one. There was no Aghaloo in the entire Griffith's Valuation
index. The closest spelling with the same sound would be Aghalough. There
were two of those: parish Drumreilly in Co. Leitrim and parish Templecarn in
Co, Donegal
Good Luck,
Mike McGraw
Austin, TX

Subject: AGHALOO?
Dear Listers,
Could SKS please tell me were, or what Aghaloo is and which would be the
Catholic Church of that area? Is the River Blackwater near by?
I am trying to find details of the marriage of Elizabeth PENDLETON and John
or James McKENNA about 1850. All I have is a sheet of paper written many
years ago, with a sort of family tree thereon. It is not very clear who
was married to whom and the dates are indistinct. There are place names,
one of which is Aghaloo and it seems to indicate that the marriage took
place in that parish in St.Mary's there. I know that the McKenna home was
in Emyvale, Monaghan, so perhaps Aghaloo was Elizabeth's parish.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Hopefully,
Therese.
