I don't think I can be of much help to you. I did learn that my husband's grandmother was engaged to Will Reed when she was about 18. She got mad at him, threw the ring at him and they broke up. She married twice and then was going with Will again when he died in the 1940's. She was born in 1878. I don't know if he was enough older than her to be James Reed's son, or was he a grandson. He lived in Auburn which is where Kate Deetkin lived part of her life.
