Carol, You may know that a long article about the TEN EYCK family was
serialized in the "New York Genealogical & Biographical Record" beginning
in volume 63, number 2 (April 1932). It was written by Henry Waterman
George. Your John is mentioned on page 163 as the 6th of the 9 children
of Andries Ten Eyck and Ariaantje Chrispel. Their children were baptized
in the North Branch DRC in Raritan, NY -- Neeltje 1717, Matthew 1720,
Janneke 1722, Petrus 1725, Andries 1727, JOHANNES 1732, Abraham 1735,
Adriantje 1739, and Marritje.
Here is the descent of Johannes/John from the immigrant couple.
Coenraet Ten Eyck and his wife, Maria Boele, came to New Amsterdam with
their two oldest children in 1650 or 1651. You descend from their son
Mathys Ten Eyck who was born in New Amsterdam on 18 March 1658. He moved
to HUrley in ULster County, NY, and married in the Kingston DRC on 16
November 1679 Jenneken Roosa, the daughter of Aldert Heymans Roosa and
Wyntie Ariens. You descend from their son
Andries Ten Eyck who was baptized in the Kingston DRC on 7 June 1671. On
20 March 1712 he married there Ariaantje Chrispel, the daughter of Peter
Chrispel and Neeltje Gerritse Newkirk. This is the couple who moved to
Raritan, NJ. Andries was an elder of the North Branch DRC in Somerset
County from 1733 until 1765. They were the parents of the 9 children
listed above including Johannes baptized in 1732.
The article contains no information about John's marriage or children.
