Need help on the VOSSELLER family. Anyone researching these lines-- Jacob
Vosseller,JR. [son of Jacob VOSSELLER and Margaret TEEPLE VOSSELLER SR.] b 24
June,1759, Somerset Co. NJ, m 27 Aug.,1780 Sarah/Sally CASTNER, [dau. of
Daniel CASTNER and Mary LARENSON], served in Rev.War- after War, lived in
Morris Co., Montgromery Co. NY and in 1802 was in Spruce Run , Hunterdon Co.
NJ, and resided there until his death, 17 July, 1840. Sarah/Sally CASTNER
VOSSELLER was living in Lebanon Twp. 1850, dod umknown.Burial site of Jacob
and Sarah unknown. Chl. of Jacob and Sarah C VOSSELLER ; Peter- b 1778 m Ann
SCHICHLER,== Jacob 111 b 1781 m Margaret OCKERMAN,==Katy b ? [ could this be
Katherine m ? STEVESNON, who wittnessed land deed from Jacob JR. to George F.
VOSSELLER ? ], ==Delana, 27 Dec,1878, m James FORCE,==Phebe- B ?, no trace,
==George b ?, no trace ==Ann b ? m James DUFFY.Is George F. VOSSELLER, b 1807,
the son of Jacob and Sarah/Sally CASTNER VOSSELLER ? Geogre F. is my husband's
g gf. In affidavits in Civil war Pension files for George F. Vosseller, based
on death of his unmarried son, John VOSSELLER in a Rebel Prison Hospt in SC,
is one from a Sarah Hazlett who states she is George F's neice.This Sarah is
Sarah VOSSELLER, dau of Jacob and Margaret OCKERMAN VOSSELLER, wife of James
HAZLETT, b in NJ, near neighbor of George F. and his wife,who also rem to PA.
This, if true, would mean that her father, Jacob Vosseller 111 and George F.
were brothers and they were both sons of Jacob JR.However- I can find no
documentation- other sources, NONE DOCUMENTED, by other researchers, would
seem to dissprove this ?? They say George, son of Jacob Jr. was b in 1797- 8
years prior to George's birth date. Other known facts often seem to support
my supposistion ! The spelling of the name- VOSSELLER. Although it is said the
German spelling was probably Fusseller- Jacob Sr. apparently Americanized it
to VOSSELLER. descendants spell it VOSSELLER, VOSSLER VOSLER, VUSLER and even
Fusler ! George F. [ and he ALWAYS used his middle initial- F. ], spelled it
VOSSELLER upon arrival in PA. Proof- tomb stoners- his wife, Susannh, d 1859
engraved VOSSELLER- right next to her is George F. d 1890 engraved VOSLER.The
spelling changed for this family at time of Civil War.Other reasons that keep
me on this line of thought==in 1829 Jacob VOSSELLER and his wife Sarah sold
land to George F. In 1834 petition for a road construction in Lebanon
twp.-the 9th signature is Jacob VOSSELLER Ser, the 10th is George F.
VOSSELLER. On the 1850 NJ census, Lebanon Twp.- Sarah FUSLER is next door to
George F. and wife Susannah FUSLER. George F. Vosseller was born in 1807 in
NJ, m in Lebanon Twp. 21 Mar.,1829, Susannah MOORE [ parents unk } they rem to
Fairmount Twp., Luzern Co. PA in 1847. All 8 children were born in NJ- Mary,
1829 m Enoch Lanning in NJ, rem to PA in 1854==Willaim 1831, Sarah, 1832,
Charles 1835, [ these 4 chl baptized in Spruce Run Church ] , Charles 1835,
John 1837, d Civil War, 1865 [ ,Emma 1841, Nathan 1844 [ husband's gf ],
Eliza, 1847. I have been researching this family for 10 years and I am at a
dead end on proof of the parents of George F. VOSSELLER. It would seem that
Jacob Jr. died without a will,and have found no probate records or obit.I live
in VA and last few years responsibilities of babysitting 4 grandchildren and
caring for a husband in failing health has prevented my on site research !! I
have hired a couple pro researchers, as finances allow- but maybe some one out
there has done some research on this line. It would be great to find the
Parents of both George F and his wife Susannah Moore and the burial site of
Jacob and Sarah/Sally Castner VOSSELLER- Any help- suggestions or sharing
