In 1892 a pamphlet was issued by H.E. Deats, Publisher, Flemington, N.J.
which was No. 2 in the 'Hunterdon Historical Series'. It was titled "The
Two Colonels John Taylor." and it concerns Col. John Taylor of Middlesex
who was born 1 August 1751 and served in the Second Middlesex regiment. He
married Jeannette Fitz-Randolph. They had three children, Augustus, John,
and Mary.
The other man concerned is Col. John Taylor of Hunterdon who was born in
Bath, England, date unknown, who served in the Fourth Hunterdon and married
Lydia Kar. They also had three children, Nathaniel, Catherine and Lydia.
He settled on Rockaway creek between New Germantown and White House.
This pamphlet was authored by Henry Race, M.D. I have a copy of this
little pamphlet and I've transcribed it into a MS Word file and if anyone
would like a copy I'll be glad to snail mail or e-mail a copy out.
According to my ggrandmother's records I'm related to the second Col
Taylor but the children don't match since our Col. Taylor supposedly had a
son named George Washington Taylor who was born in Trenton, 25 May 1784.
(the first pamphlet in the series was titled 'The Flemington Copper Mines'
and was authored by Elias Vosseller...I don't have a copy of that..)
